AGBU EmpowerHer combines both educational and psycho-social components that work to change perceptions and teach skills essential to gaining financial and social independence. To that end, AGBU is enhancing some of its successful programs, launching a number of new ones, and entering into strategic partnerships with established organizations to provide for the diverse needs of women and girls.

EmpowerHer initiatives include:

• Hye Geen Centers, a longstanding AGBU program, which provide a full cycle of support for women and families at six sites across Armenian, with resources such as pre-marriage counseling, pre and post-natal services and access to medical professionals
• Teaching youth empowerment and equality values through in-class or after school programs, targeting both girls and boys with the goal of changing mindsets and behaviors during the critical teenage years.
• Women Entrepreneurs (W.E.) Program, which teaches core entrepreneurship skills to those looking to start-up or scale-up their own microenterprise
• Women’s Support Center-AGBU Stepping Out, which provides financial assistance and support to victims of domestic violence who are ready to restart their lives and enter or re-enter the workforce.
• Workplace Fundamentals Course, which provides basic office skills ranging from Excel and PowerPoint to public speaking and business writing, with the goal of securing entry-level jobs.
• Coding and IT courses to fill the growing need for talent in Armenia’s IT sector.
• Community Changemakers training, which provides coaching and classes to encourage civic engagement and increased professional opportunities.
